Maria Calderon

Practice Manager
Maria Calderon is our Technical Manager. Her and her husband, Nicolas, reside in Newman with their daughter Isabella, and their furry family, “Cheetah” a Labrador Retriever Mix, ”Pinto” a Queensland Heeler Mix and let’s not forget their 5 pet lamb’s even though pretty soon there will be more lambs joining their furry family.

Maria graduated from Orestimba High School in 2006 and has worked in the Veterinary Industry for the past 10 years. She loves working at True Blue Veterinary Group doing her passion of assisting and helping Veterinarians with our furry loved ones.

A few of her responsibilities as our Technical Manager consist of making sure our hospital equipment is functioning accurately and properly, assisting our Doctors and Technicians in the examination and treatment rooms, helping with all Client Communication and Supervising our employees to make sure everyone is comfortable, happy, and most importantly, safe!

One thing most people wouldn’t know about me?
“I have a total of 7 siblings and they’re ALL girls. Including myself that’s 8 girls growing up in one household!”

Cathy Coelho

Office Manager

Cathy Coelho is our Office Manager. She’s been a veterinary office manager for the past 10 years. When not working at the front desk, she’s spending time in the back office working on other duties such as scheduling, inventory, and/or billing. She also speaks Portuguese & Spanish so if you ever have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to ask for her.

Along with her husband, Frank, she’s also an active participant in the Portuguese Community by helping, donating, and attending the local Portuguese events in the neighboring towns. When not busy at work, she loves spending time not only with her husband, but with their three daughters and grandchildren too. Her hobbies include sewing, reading and gardening.

One thing most people wouldn’t know about me?
“Life is a book of chapters; you close one and open another. At night I secretly end a chapter and start a new one the following morning.”

Veronica Torres

Technical Manager
Hi! My name is Veronica Torres and I’ve been doing what I love for the past 14 years; helping and caring for animals. Not many people can say that, I’m one of the few that can!

When not at work, most of my time is spent with my energetic, fun, loving niece or volunteering in her kindergarten class. Family is important to me and I enjoy spending time and hanging out with my siblings, cousins, and friends.
On my spare time you can find me relaxing reading a good book or out enjoying the outdoors horseback riding.

One thing most people wouldn’t know about me?
“I did some modeling at the age of 13. Even though it was fun, it just wasn’t for me!”


Melissa Boyer

Veterinary Technician
Hi, I am Melissa. My Love for animals has been since childhood. I don’t remember wanting to do anything else… Will I did want to sing, which I also enjoy, but my #1 passion is caring for cats and dogs. One thing I hope to gain here and over time is working with large animals. I recently enrolled into Penn Foster Distance Learning Program to study for my RVT exam. I will be ready for that early 2018. I have worked as a Vet Tech for the past 12 years. I have also been raising my 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy. My fury children “Ginger” a 4 year old Vizsla/Pit Mix, “Blue” a 5 year old Siberian Husky, “Baby” a 3 year old DSH, “JoJo” a 1 year old Siamese and a 3 year old bunny named “Pretty Girl.” (All Rescued) and to complete my busy schedule, I also have a Pet sitting/home care business.

“I have a sixth sense….”

Vanessa D. Valencia

Veterinary Technician

Vanessa got her start in the Emergency Veterinary Medicine as intern while taking a work experience class at Modesto Jr. Collage. After that summer she quickly realized what she was most passionate about. Wanting to make a career out of her passion she enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at Modesto Junior College and finished in April 2016. Vanessa is aspiring to become an RVT and has been working as a Veterinary Technician since May 2014. Vanessa, “I have always been passionate about the well-being and health of animals ever since I was a child. It wasn’t till I was in my mid 20’s that I realized that caring for animals was what really fulfilled me. It is my pleasure to be able to care for your furry family”.

My names Erika de la Roca. I’ve lived in Newman CA for 16 years and just recently moved to Modesto this past year to finish up the vet tech program at Modesto Junior College. I’ve been working at this clinic for a little over five months and I love every minute of it. This career brings more joy to my life than I ever could have imagined!

Hello there, I’m ashley! I’ve been a vet tech for a little over 10 years. When I’m not helping save the world, you can find me out on an adventure, or behind a canvas. One thing not many people know about me is that I never wear matching socks. Life’s too short for that.







Melanie Braun


My name is Melanie Braun and I am one of the receptionists who greet you and I help manage our Facebook page. I have been working here for a year and a half and I love my job!

I have lived in Newman for 27 years. I have been married to my husband, Greg, for 26 years and we have a son, Joseph, who is a fire fighter and our daughter, Maggie, is a special effects makeup artist.

In my spare time I am an actress for a local community theatre group at the Westside theatre in Newman. I also enjoy baking and making jams. I try to keep everyone in the office full with the goodies that I make at home.

I have always had a love of animals and I am so fortunate to work with them on a daily basis. At home I have 2 dogs and a chicken named Matilda, who not only lays one egg a day but also provides hours of entertainment (cluck, cluck).

Monce Barajas


Hi Everyone!

My name is Monce Barajas. I was born in Mexico and came to the US at the age of 6 in 2001. I have lived and grown up in Modesto all these years. I have recently graduated from Modesto Junior College and will be applying to their nursing program. I’ve always had a heart for helping other and I love doing it. I have been working here as a Receptionist for 5 months now and I love every moment. I have always wanted a dog of my own buy have not been allowed to in the place where I live. I am looking forward to the day I can have a puppy of my own.


Yolanda Polito


Hi! My name is Yolanda Polito and I was born in Modesto and raised practically everywhere else in California and Michigan. My family and I moved to Newman in 2008 and despite having lived in so many different places, I have never felt more at home than in Newman. I’m happy to be part of such a great community and a proud Orestimba graduate class of 2012. I have four beautiful big dogs: one Siberian Husky and one German Shepherd and two of their own mix Gerberian Shepskies. I am currently attending Modesto Junior College majoring in Natural Sciences. My job as a receptionist here at Apricot Veterinary Clinic has been a positive influence in my life. It has given me a new found passion for helping people and their pets. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and their furry loved ones!
